Acoustics in need of improvement

Our comfort, well-being and productivity depend on how well we master sound in our environment. Problems with acoustics within a space can be corrected or even redesigned. Fluffoacoustic wall panels will help.

Exhausting sounds, noise and echoes can give you a headache and ruin the comfort of living even in the most beautiful house. In the office, excessive reverberation makes work difficult and concentration impossible, which results in loss of productivity. In order to master such problems, one needs to look closer at the acoustics of the interior and consider whether sound insulation or absorption is needed. Analysing the way, the noise travels within the space will help answer this question.

Sound insulation vs sound absorption

Lets look at the acoustic insulation, which defines the level of sound reduction transmitted between rooms. For example, lets analyse, how the sound of conversation travels. In reality it is transmitted as a sound and travels through walls and the floor to the adjacent rooms, then changes into vibration, which can be heard on the other side to a smaller or greater degree. Therefore, when you hear a redundant noise coming into the room from the outside, such as conversations of the neighbours and the street noise, then you have the sound insulation problem. There are several factors responsible for the presence of the outside noise in your interior, one of them is the thickness of the walls. In short, the thicker and denser the partition the better the room insulation.  But it is not the only element, which determines the soundproofing of your interior. The construction of the building, theimpermeability of the connections between walls, floors and ceilings and the overall quality is no less important. In addition, the correct insulation of the walls alone is not enough, one must also remember about the floors and ceilings.

Where does reverberation come from?

The second important parameter of acoustics in interior designis sound absorption. In order to understand what sound absorption is, imagine two people in an empty room, with no furniture or accessories. Their conversation would be simply impossible, because the air-borne sound would reverberate off the hard surfaces and increase the levels of noise. To deal with this problem it would be enough to place soft materials in the room, the interior would becomemore cosy and quiet. Surfaces covered with fabric absorb sound and decrease the level of noise. However, not all materials absorb sound equally well. Best sound absorbing materials are soft and porous, their efficiency is defined by the sound absorption coefficient.

Acoustic panels – the efficient way to deal with noise

Fluffo soft acoustic wall panels are a fast and efficient way to master the reverberation at home or at the office. Depending on the needs they can be applied to all kinds of walls including glass surfaces or even furniture. The secret of the perfect soundproofing properties of Fluffo products lies in the open-cell structure of the high density polyurethane foam, they are made of. Its properties are additionally enhanced by the exterior layer of the thick microfibers covering all Fluffo products. The soundproofing properties of the panels were confirmedby the Acoustic Laboratory of the Construction Technology Institute in Warsaw.Fluffo panels will work very well in conference rooms, open spaces and everywhere where there is a lot of talk but noise is not desired.
